Don's greatest asset is his rough-cut image that contradicts every stereotype in the speaking business. His incredible personal story from rags to riches leaves a lump in your throat and a hole in your heart. His journey from youth prison to earning USD350 per day is just one example of true possibility and unlimited potential. One of his favourite achievements is backpacking 35 countries before realising he didn't have to travel to find what he was looking for... himself. Allan is the perennial Mr Nice Guy. A family man, Allan sees the world through rose-coloured glasses, and likes what he sees. Never having known his biological father, he's determined that his relationship with his son will be astounding, and strives daily to strengthen it. Allan and his wife left their native Cape Town in 1999, arriving in London with enough money to last just a month, no jobs, and two weeks' accommodation. They've known hardship and economy, and look forward to a prosperous future with their son.

Allan is Tall and Don is Bald. It took them six months to iron out other name variations. Second was “Bald and Tall”. This has been the source of countless raised voice arguments. Allan is a bit of a control freak and insisted on his trait being listed first as he has been tall since he was eight years old. Don has been only bald since he was 22 and was forced to concede defeat. The magnitude of this resentment coupled with their unconventional website has disrupted their sleep patterns. Their commitment to commitment is a commitment in itself. There are so many other trainers around — it seems that everybody and their dog does this, but Allan and Don actually have personalities. They are a step above the rest because they bought the wood, and built the extra step. This was Allan's brilliant idea, but Don doesn't get much benefit out of it because it's at Allan's house. They wouldn't call themselves marketing heroes (well, maybe...) or even cub scouts, but that extra step is pure class!

A fundamental tenet of Allan and Don's philosophy is to never mix business and pleasure, unless it's profitable and Allan's wife says they can. Consequently, they're always mixing.
